Toffee

Toffee

This is Toffee…my close friend and companion

Almost 11 years ago, shortly after my husband passed away from a brain tumour, my children along with my husband’s best friend decided that I needed a puppy. They found Toffee, and said I could say “no” and they would take him back. That wasn’t likely to happen! Toffee was a very cute puppy, and I had no clue what to do with him. Fortunately he was already 3 months old, and partially potty trained.

The first few nights were a struggle. We hardly slept, and I had to turn all the lights on before checking for puddles in hidden places. Things improved very quickly, and Toffee has given me over these almost 11 years a reason to get up every day. He continues to bring joy to my life, the lives of my children, and of my students and friends.

Toffee is especially pleased with how much time I spend at home since the start of the pandemic. And he seems to love the 5 a.m. walks before the rest of the community wakes up.

Toffee died on July 15, 2021. I miss my sweet boy.
